Imhotep, serving under Pharaoh Djoser during the Third Dynasty (2650-2600 BCE), revolutionized ancient Egyptian architecture and medicine. As the designer of the Step Pyramid of Djoser and a pioneering physician, he became one of few commoners ever deified in Egyptian history.
