Wedding of Casimir the Great and Aldona Anna

On October 16, 1325, the wedding of King Casimir the Great and Lithuanian Princess Aldona Anna, daughter of Grand Duke Gediminas, took place in the Wawel Cathedral. This marriage sealed the Polish-Lithuanian alliance and led to the release of 24,000 Polish prisoners.

First Oktoberfest in Munich

The inaugural Oktoberfest took place on October 12, 1810, when Crown Prince Ludwig of Bavaria married Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen, inviting all Munich citizens to celebrate on the fields outside the city gates, now known as Theresienwiese.
