Czerwińsk Privilege

In 1422, in Czerwińsk nad Wisłą (Czerwińsk upon Vistula), King Władysław Jagiełło issued the Czerwińsk Privilege - one of the most important noble privileges. The document introduced the principle of neminem captivabimus (prohibition of imprisoning nobles without a court verdict) and banned property confiscation without a court ruling, which significantly strengthened the nobility's position in the state.

Cerekwica-Nieszawa Privilege

The Cerekwica-Nieszawa Privilege was issued by King Casimir IV Jagiellon in 1454. This document significantly limited royal power in favor of the nobility, introducing, among others, a ban on imposing new taxes without the consent of local parliaments and the principle of personal inviolability of nobles.

First General Sejm in Piotrków

The First General Sejm was convened on January 18, 1493, in Piotrków by King John I Albert. This event marked the beginning of Polish parliamentarism, introducing a bicameral parliamentary system consisting of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies. During the session, 33 parliamentary constitutions were enacted, which shaped the foundations of the Polish political system.
