Wedding of Casimir the Great and Aldona Anna

On October 16, 1325, the wedding of King Casimir the Great and Lithuanian Princess Aldona Anna, daughter of Grand Duke Gediminas, took place in the Wawel Cathedral. This marriage sealed the Polish-Lithuanian alliance and led to the release of 24,000 Polish prisoners.

Death of Casimir the Great

Casimir III the Great, the last king of Poland from the Piast dynasty, died on November 5, 1370, in Cracow due to injuries sustained from falling off a horse while hunting. His death marked the end of the 400-year reign of the Piast dynasty on the Polish throne.
